Rausch Shelter 18 rainy miles
Total mileage 152.8
I debated taking a zero at the shelter, but it wasn’t raining to hard so I decided to go to the next shelter. Unfortunately it was 18 miles away. Which is not my all time mileage high but it is my all time high for hiking is crappy weather. The hiking in the rain wasn’t all that bad, but having to hike through a waterlogged trail sucked. I was trying to tiptoe through water that was up to my ankle.π¨ I guess I thought going through on my tiptoes would make it better. But I doubt anything could have made it better. And tomorrow I get to put on wet socks and shoes… my all time least favorite thing. π
LUNA, one of the girls that I stayed at the last shelter with caught up to me and we hiked the last 6-7 miles to the shelter together. She gave me a pretty good boost to keep going. She kept me entertained with riddles which didn’t last to long since that is not my cup of tea. She gave up on me pretty quick so she can up with some “would you rather ” and that lasted a little longer. It made the miles go by faster.
The shelter I’m in tonight is rated for 6 people and we have 8 of us packed in here. It is more than cozy!π Because there are so many of us in here it is pretty warm. Which is a good thing.
Even though you’ve had some short days, you are doing quite well…especially for being so early on in your hike.
This is fun! π I hope you are having as much fun as we are reading about it.
Now I want to do it all over again. π

It has been nice. I just wish the days were nicer so I could spend more time in my tent.
