There was no slaving in the kitchen for these two ladies. Mom and I hiked Deep Creek Trail in the Smokey Mountains today. We drove through the night and hit the trail about 8am this morning. It was a pretty chilly start. The temperature was in the mid 40’s and it was foggy.
The trail passed 3 waterfalls – Juney Whank Falls, Tom Branch Falls and Indian Creek Falls. The highlight was watching an otter swimming around at Indian Creek Falls and hiking with Mom.

Today we hiked Alum Cave Trail, which is one of the top 10 hikes in the Smokies. While the trail was amazing the foot traffic was effing unbelievable. When we got back to the parking lot it was jam-packed and overflowed to the road.
We quickly made our way out of there and then hit the Kephart Prong Trail for an additional 4.2 miles.
Today’s highlights: I think I saw a red squirrel (it was some type of squirrel or chipmunk). Amazing views and happy hiking.

It was a chilly 35 this morning when we started the Twentymile Loop Trial. I walked across 14 bridges on this trail, 8 tree bridges and 6 wood. A lot of this trail was hiking along creeks. Super beautiful.
On the way home we stopped at Fontana Dam and walked across the Dam. This is the fourth time I have walked across this bridge.
Today highlights: walking in the woods.
